Sakai is an open-source learning management system (LMS) used by the University of Baltimore teaching staff to develop and administer course websites. Instructors can create announcements, share course materials, and enhance discussion from one location. CELTT offers Sakai support, including trainings and one-on-one consultations.
KEY SAKAI FEATURES
Rubrics: Create, manage, and grade from rubrics within the Assignments, Tests & Quizzes, Gradebook, and Forums tools.
Archiving: Back up course content including test/quizzes, assignments, rubrics, gradebooks, files/resources, lessons, and discussions.
Cloud Hosting: Save larger files to a remote host (like OneDrive) and integrate those files into Sakai.
Inline grading: View and comment on student assignments (like those in Word) within Sakai without the need to download the assignment first.
Student activity reports: Create reports on student activities within their courses for help evaluating learning effectiveness as well as researching student-related course issues.
Information sharing: Post announcements and reading materials for the entire class – easily and without paper.
Discussion boards: Enhance student communication with an area for students to post comments, questions, and assignments.
Online gradebook: Update your students’ grades 24/7.
Third party applications: CELTT has added applications that work in conjunction with Sakai 20. These include Zoom, Panopto, McGraw Hill Connect, Perusall, and a SCORM testing platform. CELTT is also testing and piloting additional applications which will be available for use throughout the year.
