Advancing Equity and Inclusion in Math Education:
The Algebra Project, AI, and Mindset
A Zoom Conference for Educators and Practitioners
April 13, 2023
2:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. EST
Free and open to the public
This virtual conference is presented through the support of the Bank of America Center for Excellence in Learning, Teaching and Technology at the University of Baltimore.
About the Conference
Disparities in math achievement have always existed. The pandemic and the departure of experienced educators exacerbate these learning gaps. Advances in technology and educational research offer the potential to overcome these challenges. Without major change, we will guarantee further losses of talented young learners unable to navigate the US math curriculum's rigid sequential approach to math education. Mr. Robert Moses, civil rights activist, MacArthur genius award recipient, and founder of The Algebra Project, identified "mathematics literacy as a civil right for all public-school children."
Our webinar builds from the Algebra Project's foundation. It connects that with M-Power Teaching (MPT) – an AI that assists the development of skilled math educators and adds the crucial role of mindset for persistence and learning achievement.
Math, quantitative reasoning, and mindsets are great natural resources… *if* they are aligned for effective learning. So let's explore how to do that.
Please register for our webinar and join us for an active Q & A discussion.
This webinar continues April 2022’s Thinking in Numbers: Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in Math Education: Aligning Pedagogy, Purposeful Technology, and Applications.
Our focus applies to liberal arts, business, public administration, faculty, and students, especially those in math and math-adjacent areas.
